Though we’ve enjoyed a lot of netbook, UMPC, ultra portable or watchamacallit lately, we’ve yet to see a mini laptop that looks as good as it performs. With the Lenovo IdeaPad S10, we hope the search is over. It comes in white but doesn’t look like a VTech toy, has a whopping 160 GB of hard drive, 1 GB of RAM, a 1.6 GHz atom Intel processor and thankfully is installed with good ‘ol Windows XP. The selling price is $470, or around 23,000 Philippine pesos. We just wish the peso dollar would improve so we can really enjoy this new tech toy in the Philippines.

The Canon G10 is here! This new iteration to Canon’s mid-range cameras sports a 5x optical zoom and 14.7 megapixels. It is priced at $500 at Canon USA’s website. Since the G9 is still being sold here in the Philippines for around 30 grand, we are estimating the G10 will be sold at around 35 thousand bucks. So much for being midrange, just cough up a little more money and you could get a decent digital SLR.
To make these piece of a gadget water and sand-proof, Canon separately offers a waterproof casing for the G10.

The Wall Street Journal confirms rumours that Dell is joining the low-cost UMPC wars. The Dell Mini is rumored to have a less than 9-inch screen and will run on a choice of Windows or Linux. The UMPC is expected to retail for less than $400 dollars. We believe it will be sold at around 20,000 pesos here in the Philippines.

This backpack from Tech Air is as an organization-freak’s dream. It has compartmentalized pouches for CDs, pens, A4 documents, iPod and other thing-a-majigs. The bag is made of water-proof synthetic and there is a clever opening for iPod earphones so you could still listen to your tunes while your iPod is tucked inside. Though it is clearly a laptop bag, it only comes in one size and cannot fit in notebooks bigger that a 13-inch macbook. It costs $72.

Though these keyboards cost 156 big ones, we think that the designs and funky-ness justify the price. These handmade keyboards connect to the PC via USB and comes in several designs. The keyboard featured below is called Nishi-Ki; other keyboards in the series are the Zip-Ang (gold-coated), Waza-Kura (cherry blossoms), Kara-Kusa (swirls) and the Usa-Gi (rabbits).

BlackBerry throws in a match for the iPhone. The BlackBerry Bold comes with GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 2 mega pixel camera with 5x digital zoom and built in flash. Of course, this wouldn’t be a BlackBerry without its mail send and web functions and the QWERTY keyboard.
