Sagada

Sagada is a municipality in the Mountain Province of Luzon in the northern Philippines. There are many sites of interest in this rugged location, including caves, waterfalls and the famous hanging coffins.

There are several ways to get to Sagada but the recommended way to get there is via Baguio on the more developed route. To do this you need to first get to Baguio from Manila. The best way to accomplish this is to take a Victory Liner bus from one of their five stations in Manila. Upon reaching Baguio you should take a cab to the Dangwa Bus Station where you will find the Lizardo Transit Station. This is where you buy your bus ticket to Sagada.

Once you are in Sagada there is quite a variety of accommodations to choose from, most of them of the guesthouse variety. The rooms range from bunk houses to private rooms with shared toilet facilities to private rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Reservations are not normally required.

The most popular of the sites to see in Sagada are the hanging coffins. This was a traditional form of burial for people with special qualifications. This form of burial is no longer in use. The other popular activities are caving and exploring the numerous waterfalls.

If you are looking for an adventurous holiday in mountain terrain with caves, trekking and waterfalls galore, be sure to include Sagada on your vacation itinerary.
