Mactan Island
This Mactan Island is Cebu’s luxury destination with starred resort and hotels with their own private beaches, spa facilities and infinity pools. Shangri-La Mactan (contact no. 231 0288) has its own private beach cove, 6-hole golf course and multi-tiered pools. Sutukil (contact no. 340 6448) has its own market where you get to choose your seafood and have it cooked any way you like. Plantation Bay Resort and Spa (contact no. 340 5900) is another luxury resort in Mactan that has its own saltwater lagoon and beach. Plantation Bay’s resort is so vast that you would have to use a golf cart to get around. Cebu Hilton (contact no. 492 7777) Resort and Spa is another starred resort in Mactan Island with 6 restaurants, its own private beach and swimming pools.
If you get tired of the sheltered life at the luxury hotels you can head inland to Mactan’s tourist traps. At the Mactan Shrine you can marvel at the statue of the legendary chieftain Lapu-lapu, Magellan’s bane. In the town of Abuno you could get yourself one of the guitars as a souvenir, one of the several items Cebu is known for.
